Another one from me

Video number 25 was my third original song that I uploaded to Youtube. It's a slow number that has no percussion. I tried to be general with the lyrics so that they could appeal to more people's lives.

The title of the song is "Blow away", and it's generally about someone looking back on relationships of the past, and how they believe that they were the reason for their demise.

See what you think:

Next up we have some connells :)

Neil and Urge Overkill

This is a number that was played in a fantastic film by the name of "Pulp fiction". The act that did a version of the song was called Urge Overkill. It was the first time I had heard the song, and I was very surprised to discover that it was written and performed originally by Neil Diamond.

A fantastic film and a great song. I enjoyed singing it.

This is my version of it.

Next, to video twenty five. Which is an Original composition by me.

Rhyme that sprang from me

So we arrive at another Neil Diamond song. My request list was getting out of control. There were a quite a few more to do, and there were a few Neil Diamond song in there.

The next one up, off the list was "Play Me". I have to admit that this is one of my favourites of his. I don't really know why. It just feels pretty good to sing.

See for yourself:

In an effort to reduce the Neil songs on the list, the next song is one of his too. Then it's back to other songs.

That's it for now :)

My own song.

I'm giving video 21 a miss because I pointed it out in an earlier post.

Moving on to the 22nd video.

This was a song that I wrote a few years ago. This is quite a popular one, among a good number of people. It's not to be confused with other songs that share the same title. It's called 'Twist of fate', and it was written from top to bottom, by me.

Here it is:

I very often try different things with my music. This was an attempt to mess up the arrangement of the song, so it would have some significance to the meaning. The verses are in the first half of the song, and the chorus at the end. It's a powerful song. I hope you enjoy it.

You'll also notice that in my original song videos, I tended to use picture slideshows.

Any guesses on the artist for my next cover? You probably wont be shocked to discover that it's another one by Neil Diamond :)

Video 20. Beautiful noise

I kept on getting more requests, so it was time for Neil Diamond again. A good chunk of those songs on the request list were for Neil Diamond songs, and from all of those I chose to do Beautiful noise. Up until this post, this song had had over 750 viewings.

So here it is. My allegedly Beautiful Noise.

I hope you enjoyed that if you listened to it. There is more Neil Diamond to come from me. All of them were requests, and will appear in later posts.

Sonnet

So on to my ninetheenth video, which was a fantastic song called Sonnet by the Verve. This was the second track I had sung from the "Urban hymns" album.

As you may notice, I hadn't solved the audio and video sync problems, though that is definitely me singing the song :)

I find that most of the Verve songs are quite easy to sing because the vocal range required is not too taxing.

Here is my take on this song.

I was getting a number of requests, and a few of these were for Neil Diamond songs, so the next one was one off those. So, until my next post :)

And now for one of my songs

Everything I had done so far on Youtube was cover versions. Except for the how to sing videos, so I thought it was time to start slipping in a few of my own original compositions. It's a slow number going by the name of Changes. I wrote and produced this song from start to finish, on my own.

It's about someone waking up in the morning and suddenly realising that they are in love, but having real difficulty in letting that person know how they feel. It's a slow number, and you can find the lyrics in the video description if you go to Youtube.

This song was written a few years ago. As I have a library of songs I have already written. It made sense to start putting some of them out, so that I could get some general opinions.

Here it is. Changes.

And now for a few more cover versions.

Help on singing

Tags:
@ 11:09 AM (22 months, 10 days ago)

Very soon after I started posting videos. I got a request for help on singing from one of my initial subscribers. I replied with some tips and exercises that I came across over the years. She got back to me, and asked me if I could make a video about it, because she thought the information might be useful for other people.

So I managed to fit just about everything into three videos. I tried to balance all the advice out into tips and exercises. All these would hopefully help to develop the vocals of those interested

Up until the time I posted this. These videos have been by far my most popular. So far they've had over 23 thousand views collectively.

If you're interested in an amatuers list of singing tips then check out my videos.

What I'll do is provide links to each of these.

How to sing part 1

How to sing 1 video

How to sing part 2

How to sing 2 video

how to sing part 3

How to sing 3 video

I'm quite pleased because I've had a lot of positive feedback in the comments. So it was really worth making them. If you've got the singing bug then maybe they might be useful to you.

And when I'm asleep

The 16th video of mine was a cover of a song by a fantastic band. The one and only Depeche Mode. In the early days, their music was quite bouncy, but as time went on. They moved into experimental and dark music.

This particular song of theirs stood out for me as being quite different to what they were doing, and is, in my opinion. One of their best.

The song is called Somebody, and here's my take on it:

One of those special songs, in my eyes. The words are fantastic too.

A third one from Neil

A good few people were telling me that my vocal tone was quite similar to Neil Diamonds, and were eager to hear more, so I decided to do another one of his. This was the third on of his I recorded on Youtube. I was more pleased with this one myself, because of the improvement in my sound setup. This is again, one of the most liked songs by Neil Diamond fans. It's got some pretty low notes, but I didn't seem to have any problems with that.

The song is I am I said.

Here is my rendition of it:

That's about it for this one :)
