Cracklin Rosie makes me smile

Many people have told me that my voice sounds like another artist they know, and one of those artists is Neil Diamond. There are similarities in my tone. I don't go out of my way to try ansd sound like anyone else but myself.

So the choice of my sixth song was the Neil Diamond classic, Cracklin Rosie. This was the first of a string of Neil Diamond songs recorded by me on Youtube. This was the first song of his I had ever heard.

Statistically I can tell you that this was Neil's first major hit in the UK and got to number 3 in 1970.

So here goes. Again, I apologise for the poor sound quality in this vid.

As I said. I've done a few Neil Diamond songs on Youtube now. If you want to go and take a look you can check out my Youtube Channel at:

My Elvis Costello moment.

Charles Aznavour hit the number one spot in England in 1974 with She. I remember a lot of people going crazy for this song, but I didn't like it very much at the time. It was a bit too slushy for me.

Then in 1999. Elvis Costello did a cover of the song, and I loved it straight away. Perhaps it was just his voice that made it for me, or maybe my musical tastes had changed. Not likely. It didn't make me love the Charles Aznavour version.

So I decided to cover the song myself on Youtube, more in keeping with the Elvis Costello version.

So here it is. My take on the song.

This one went down quite well on Youtube. Made me happy anyway :)

That's it for the moment. Next one coming soon :)

My fourth video. A Coldplay number.

The fourth song I put up on Youtube was from one of my favourite bands. Coldplay. A song from their first album, Parachutes, called Don't panic.

This was the first Coldpay CD I bought. The best tracks on the album, in my opinion are Don't panic, Trouble and Yellow.

So to the song. It's not very long, but as with most coldplay songs. They seemed to create such a full sound with a simple setup, and Chris martins vocals are very expressive.

The sound on this one is quite low as well, but you can get a good idea if you turn the levels up.Down to business. This is my rendition of Don't panic.

Thats it for this time around :)

Chasing Cars.

I wanted to do a more recent song for the third video, so I opted for singing Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.

I got hold of a couple of their CDs in the last few years. I liked quite a few of the tracks that they produced, but this particular song stood out. I went out and sang it on Karaoke a few times and got some really positive feedback from the drunken masses. Well, I was happy with that. As I was planning to put loads of videos up on Youtube, this one seemed like a good choice.

The sound levels in my videos were starting to bother me. They appeared to be very low, though I was still getting quite positive comments, and my subscriber count was starting to rise quite nicely.

So to the results of my third effort. See what you think.

Number three. Done and dusted :)

My attempt at Losing my religion

So for my second video that I uploaded on Youtube. I got a few positive comments on the first one, though I must admit that the first coment was an un-intelligent expression. Most likely a child. I wasn't bothered about it though. I've seen the best get bad comments. I've seen a real range of singers on there. From excellent to awful!

I'm going to be doing a post for each of the videos so far, and then I'll post every time I put a new one up. I've got some catching up to do :).

You can see all the videos I've done so far by going to my channel. The link is below:

In the first video I didn't really like where I had the camera pointed, so I've moved it. There's a nice view of my stairs. Well, now you know I don't live in a bungalow. :)

The second video I uploaded to Youtube is from a band whose music I admire. R.E.M. The song is called (Losing my religion). See what you think of my attempt at it:

There are over a thousand songs that I have sung, but I still have a problem choosing which one to do next. I think it's called too much choice. It's confusing.

That's about it for now. I'll be posting again soon. If you can't wait then go and take a look at my Youtube channel. The link is near the top of the post.

All the best.

My first Youtube video

I joined YouTube a few months ago to see where I could get on there. My user ID on there is:

I'm going to follow my progress on YouTube. So here goes.

I started on there a few months ago, and things are going quite well so far.

So What do I do. Well. I looked at other people singing on there and noticed a lot of them just sitting in front of a webcam singing, so I decided that's how I would do things for the most part.

I'm going to be putting up my renditions of a load of different popular songs, and I'm I'm also going to put my own songs up too. To add to this, I'm going to put up videos of other interest too, but they won't be too far away from music.

The first video I put up was a cover of Joe Cocker's classic song "You are so beautiful". You can watch it here:

Go check it out, and leave a comment (If you are a YouTube user) I'd appreciate any opinion :)

Well, Lots more videos to come :)
